Meet the team | Jean-Michel
The goal of these articles is to introduce the members of our team.
Here is Jean-Michel Gigault, Head Of Technology, who joined Per Angusta 5 years ago!
Let’s start with a quick Chinese portrait!
If you were a dish?
Stuffed tomatoes 🍅
Font-Romeu, located in the French Pyrénées Mountains. I spent many winters and summers there when I was young, taking part in lots of sports (tennis, skiing, hiking, archery, ice skating). I used to spend all my time enjoying nature and outdoor activities. It’s also the sunniest place in France! 🇫🇷
A famous character?
James Bond, for his calmness in turbulent situations, and because I like the British spirit!
A tool? 🛠
A shovel, because I like shaping and reshaping a garden, organizing spaces for plants and building paths for people.
What’s your last impulse purchase?
A flat in Lyon, for sure!
What did you do before joining Per Angusta?
I was working in a cooperative of entrepreneurs to develop a business with a teammate I met during my training at 42 School and Matrice. Our product aimed at connecting IT solutions through API protocols to develop multiple kinds of marketplaces. For instance, one of them, was aimed at connecting HR solutions to provide people new ways for building their career plan.
What is your current role within the Tech Team?
As the Head Of Tech, I am responsible for the research and development execution, the security of products and internal solutions, managing the team and hiring new tech talent. I am also coding a few key features with our developers and assisting them with problem solving. I am actively involved with the development and implementation of our solutions and am responsible for ensuring a reliable product.
Tell us about a project that you are particularly proud to have participated in Per Angusta?
I started at Per Angusta as an intern. To be honest, I didn’t know anything about Ruby on Rails, the primary language used in the platform. I would never have imagined that five years later I would become the Head of Technology at this fast-growing company, serving large organizations from all over the world. I’m proud of what we have achieved so far and grateful for the confidence shown by Pierre, our Founder & CEO, which has enabled my growth and active participation in the Per Angusta adventure.
Why did you want to join Per Angusta?
I was looking for a SMB based in Lyon where I could practice web development using best practices. Since I was a child, I have enjoyed developing and executing projects with self-made implementations and creative thinking. In my career, I wanted to continue solving technical challenges and developing my skills. At Per Angusta, I found a real drive to make things intelligently, with an appropriate level of exigence, but also a high level of freedom.
Come on, you can tell us … 😉 is there something that you’re particularly proud of?
I am a former tap dancer and musician, so I’ve got rhythm! I imagine that when software’s coding falls into the scope of Artificial Intelligence, it will be time for me to put together a music company to travel the world and play jazz.
