Meet the team | Stefan

The goal of these articles is to introduce the members of our team. Here is Stefan Barolin, Solution Design Analyst at Per Angusta!

Let’s start with a quick Chinese portrait!

If you were a dish?
A bokit 🥙 because it reminds me of the holidays and my roots. It is a typical sandwich from Guadeloupe sold in food trucks near beaches which deserves to be known worldwide. Choose your topping: seasoned chicken, salted cod, ham and cheese (and for the most greedy, Nutella) along with sauce called “dog sauce.” OMG! If you are lucky enough to travel there one day, don’t miss out! ❤️

A destination?
Singapore, because it was my first ever trip outside of France at the age of 21 to study one semester at the National University of Singapore. Leaving my comfort zone was not an easy path but discovering the people, culture, and language in a new country was a life-changing experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

A famous character?
Tony Stark, aka Iron Man! He is a self-made flying super hero, a tech guy, a smart craftsman, an entrepreneur and, even though he is a bit egocentric, he cares about others, while always remaining ambitious and positive. I love the mindset.

A tool? 🛠
Google, because this is almost all you need to solve any problem 👨🏽‍💻. It allowed me to travel when I couldn’t afford it and it is one of the most influential tech companies in the world.

What’s your last impulse purchase?
A Giant’s carbon racing bicycle💰. I am the complete opposite of a compulsive shopper, #procurementmatters but when it pertains to sports, I see it as an investment into my health. Why buying a bike? I do a lot of sports. In 2022, I want to go one step further and finish a triathlon.

What did you do before joining Per Angusta?

I graduated in mechanical and material engineering from UTT (University of Technology), then pursued my interest in the aeronautics industry. My dream was to become an airline pilot 👨🏽✈️. My story with procurement started during my master thesis internship as a data analyst in the material and parts procurement department of Airbus. I worked as a Program Buyer in Faurecia, Commodity and Senior Project Buyer at Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi. Having a background in purchasing is a real asset for understanding how our customers can accelerate their procurement performance management with Per Angusta.

What is your current role within the Pre-Sales Team?

I joined as a Solution Design Analyst also known more traditionally as a “Solution Engineer,” “Presales Consultant,” or “Sales Engineer.” In Per Angusta, my role is to analyze our customer’s biggest challenges to create convincing stories and proofs of concept to help them understand why Per Angusta is the best solution. To succeed, I need to become a product expert, know how to communicate the value Per Angusta brings to our customers, partner with our international sales manager team and win the trust of our customers both in the technical and functional categories. As we are creating this department alongside Loïc, there are plenty of processes to draft and structure. It is really exciting. 🚀

Tell us about a project that you are particularly proud to have participated in Per Angusta?

Even though I am pretty new to the company, I had the chance to immediately be involved in many projects and offer my expertise for initiatives such as creating the pilot environment for the largest customer we have signed to date. I am proud to say I played a key role in that project.

I am getting more and more at ease with the solution and had the opportunity to co-host a full demo to support Richard, Head of UK & Nordics. With Loïc, we are working on how to best prepare the Solution Design department to support Per Angusta’s evolution through various subjects, such as the knowledge base, the creation of demonstration environments, the definition of personas, the integration of story-telling within pre-sales, the improvement of the onboarding process, etc …

Why did you want to join Per Angusta?

While participating in large procurement organizations, I quickly realized that what really mattered was the data. As a data-driven person, I know it is critical to collect the data to help me manage my workload, support my analysis, and share my performance. Ironically, in large organizations having access to a single source of truth is a big challenge at various levels. It is a problem I wanted to solve which led me to build an internal reporting tool and dashboard for my own use first, which I then shared with management and colleagues.

I have always been interested in programming as well. I enrolled in Le Wagon coding bootcamp to develop my understanding of software architecture. As I was completing the course, I discovered the existence of Per Angusta and loved the vision of Pierre. Initially, I wanted to join as a developer but noticed the solution role involved problem solving, procurement, and technology and I was excited that a role could encompass all of those aspects, so I applied for it.
Additionally, knowing that Per Angusta is growing internationally makes it super exciting to join the adventure right now. 🌎
As soon as the interview process started I knew I wanted to be part of the team. 🤜🏽  🤛🏾

Come on, you can tell us … 😉 is there something that you’re particularly proud of?

I am good at observing, analyzing and listening to people (which is a good thing in my day-to-day job), but I can also mimic animals. If I feel comfortable enough with you, you may hear me imitate animals noises…  🤫
